Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Couples Hub (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a shared life management application designed for couples. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you choose to provide (such as your name).

Couple Space Data

When you and your partner connect in a shared couple space, the following data is stored and shared between both partners:

• Meal plans and recipes
• Shopping lists and shopping history
• To-do tasks (including assigned tasks and due dates)
• Budget categories, planned amounts, and transactions
• Trip itineraries and travel information
• Shared goals and goal progress
• Calendar events you create within the app

Partner Visibility

Certain information is visible to your connected partner by design:

• Last active timestamp (when you last used the app)
• Shared goals and their progress
• All shared life management data listed above

Private goals (marked as “Private” when created) are only visible to you and are never shared with your partner.

Google Calendar Data

If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, we access your calendar events in read-only mode to display them alongside your Couples Hub data. We cache Google Calendar events temporarily in our database to reduce API calls. We do not modify, delete, or share your Google Calendar data. You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from Settings.

Usage Data

We store a “last active” timestamp each time you use the app. This timestamp is visible to your connected partner within the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the Couples Hub service
• To sync data between you and your partner in real time
• To send push notifications you have opted into (task reminders, budget alerts, meal planning prompts)
• To display your Google Calendar events within the app (if connected)
• To improve the app based on usage patterns

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL database service. We use Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure couples can only access their own data. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.

Administrative Access: As the operator of Couples Hub, we have administrative access to the database infrastructure for purposes of maintaining the service, debugging technical issues, and operating automated features such as the weekly digest and budget sync. We do not access individual user data except as strictly necessary to operate, maintain, or troubleshoot the service. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we store your push subscription endpoint to send you notifications you have opted into. You can disable notifications at any time from Settings → Notifications.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• Vercel — hosting and deployment
• Google Calendar API — calendar integration, only if you connect it
• Kroger API — grocery integration, only if you use the shopping feature
• Spoonacular API — recipe search

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers. Data is only shared with your connected partner within your couple space, and with the third-party services listed above solely to operate the app.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

You may delete your account and all associated data directly from the app under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete My Account. Account deletion is permanent and immediate — all personal data including meal plans, budget history, goals, and connected account information is permanently removed from our systems. Your partner's account is not affected by your deletion.

You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email address listed in Section 11 below.

9. Children's Privacy

Couples Hub is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. We will notify connected users of significant changes via the app.
